Ranking & Paid Placement.
Version 1.0 — in force from 7 October 2026
This policy explains how Viroan decides the order in which Products appear in the catalogue, the main parameters that determine that order and why they matter, and what paid placement does and does not buy. It forms part of the Terms of Service (clause 10) and uses the terms defined there.
1. How the catalogue is ordered
1.1. When you search, Products are ordered first by how well they match what you typed. Within that, the order follows the sort you choose: by default the date of listing (most recently listed first), and otherwise by price, by Gate Score or by user rating, as you select.
1.2. When you have not searched or sorted, the catalogue shows recently listed Products, except for any paid placement under clause 3.
2. The main ranking parameters, and why they matter
The parameters that determine ranking, in order of importance, are:
- Relevance to your search — how well a Product’s name, type, market, description and Creator match the words you entered. This comes first, because a result that does not match what you are looking for is of no use however it would otherwise rank.
- The sort you choose — date of listing (the default), price, Gate Score or user rating. You are in control of this, and it decides the order among relevant results.
- Paid placement — a Product whose Creator has paid for placement may be lifted within the results, and is labelled PROMOTED (clause 3).
Nothing else raises a Product’s position. We do not order the catalogue by how much a Creator earns us, except through the paid placement described below, which is always labelled.
3. Paid placement (PROMOTED)
3.1. A Creator may pay for their Product to be placed more prominently — at the front of the catalogue, within a category, or among search results. Such a placement is labelled PROMOTED wherever it appears, is time-limited, and its price is shown to the Creator in the studio before they buy it.
3.2. A paid placement raises a Product’s position only. It does not change the Product’s certification, its Gate Score, its reviews or its rating, and it is not a statement by Viroan that the Product is better or more suitable than another. A PROMOTED label marks an advertisement, not a recommendation.
3.3. Where a single Product is featured in a prominent slot, it is a paid front placement if there is one, labelled PROMOTED; otherwise it is a recently listed Product, and is not presented as chosen on merit.
4. What payment does not buy
Payment cannot buy certification or a passing verification result, a higher Gate Score, the addition, removal or re-ordering of reviews, or the removal or demotion of another Creator’s Product. Verification, the Gate Score and reviews are described in the Risk Disclosure and the Terms of Service, and none of them is for sale.
5. Gate Score and reviews in ranking
The Gate Score and the user rating are available as sort options. The Gate Score is produced by Viroan’s verification of a specific build against the Creator’s own declaration; the rating is the arithmetic mean of reviews written by holders of a Licence for the Product. Neither is altered by payment, and a Creator cannot buy, solicit, author or remove a review.
6. Products connected to Viroan
Where a Product is offered by a Creator connected to Viroan or to a member of its team, the Product carries a badge disclosing that connection. Such a Product undergoes the same verification as any other, receives no advantage in ranking, and its final human approval is not made by a person who is connected to it. The connection is disclosed; it does not change the Product’s position or its verification.
7. Changes, contact and language
We may update this policy; the version number and effective date are shown above. The ranking parameters here are also available to Creators as business users, as the law on online intermediation services requires. For any question write to support@viroan.com. This policy is published in English and Polish; the Polish version applies to a reader who is a Polish citizen or resident in Poland, and the English version in all other cases (clause 16.3 of the Terms of Service).
